Elín Hall

Elín Hall is an award-winning Icelandic singer, songwriter, and actress whose creative voice moves fluidly between the worlds of music and cinema. Acclaimed for her piercing lyricism and cinematic storytelling, Elín is emerging as one of the most vital voices of her generation, blending vulnerability, power, and vision across mediums.

Her 2024 Icelandic-language album heyríst í mér? marked a major breakthrough on the home front, earning three nominations at the Icelandic Music Awards, winning the prestigious Kraumur Award, and being named Album of the Year by The Reykjavík Grapevine. The album produced three chart-topping singles on Iceland's national radio station Rás 2 and solidified Elín’s reputation for emotionally intelligent, richly poetic songwriting.

In 2024, Elín began a bold new chapter with her first English-language material, beginning with the single Heaven To A Heathen, produced by Grammy-winner Martin Terefe. The track premiered live on BBC Radio 1 and Rás 2 as part of Europe’s Biggest Gig, where Elín represented Iceland to an international audience. Her latest single, Wolf Boy, released in August 2025, expands on this artistic evolution – a haunting exploration of identity and perception that showcases the novelistic scope of her songwriting. “There’s something compelling about stepping into the version of yourself that someone else creates,” she says. “Sometimes that reveals more than telling your side of the story.”

As a live performer, Elín continues to expand her reach. She opened the main stage of the UK festival Bludfest earlier this summer and is set to support Smashing Pumpkins in Reykjavík in August 2025. She will return to the iconic Iceland Airwaves in November, following appearances at major domestic and international stages.

Alongside her musical accomplishments, Elín has drawn significant acclaim for her work as an actress. She won Best Actress at both the Chicago International Film Festival and the Edda Awards (Iceland’s national film awards) for her lead role in When the Light Breaks (2024), which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. She was recently named one of the European Shooting Stars 2025 by the European Film Promotion, spotlighting the ten most promising actors in Europe.

Whether through her music or her acting, Elín Hall is a storyteller at heart – unafraid to inhabit complexity, explore contradiction, and bring profound emotional nuance to her art. With each release, she continues to push creative boundaries and captivate audiences both in Iceland and far beyond.
